College Chess Enthusiast / Administrator —

The Georgia Chess Association holds an annual collegiate championship. The 2007 tournament will be held in an outstanding facility at Emory University on Saturday, March 24th.

Anchored by such large institutions as Emory, Georgia Tech, Georgia State, Dekalb Tech and Georgia Southern, this competition has proven worthwhile and enjoyable for all skill levels over a number of years. Intercollegiate chess tournaments are not common so this opportunity should not be missed. This event is open to colleges outside Georgia.

The event is run in a formal manner by a US Chess Federation tournament director, however, the experience is also designed to be comfortable and non-intimidating. Given the time constraints of many college students, this is a one-day event with four rounds of chess at a time control of G/45 (each player has a maximum of 45 minutes of playing time per game).

Participants do not need to be members of a formal college team or club, however, due to the team nature of the competition, representatives of a school must register in groups of at least 4 students.

The attached Acrobat document contains full details on the competition and registration. Please give it wide distribution. We are looking forward to another excellent competition. We also have a website at www.GeorgiaChess.org

Sincerely, Ted Wieber, college@GeorgiaChess.org , 770-476-5659
