Cool puzzle!
f7 looks good.
Why are u posing problems at this time ? And why am I solving them now ?
– Vinay
It looks like
1.f7 Qxf7 (what else to avoid mate on h7 or save the rook on g8?)
2.Be5+ R4g7
3.Qxh7 mate is the idea.
Merry Christmas everyone!
1 Be5 is better than 1 f7.
Susan, its GREAT that you are posting the daily puzzles nowadyas. I learn a lot from these…and I eagerly look forward to the new puzzle every night.
Steve Dagonia, Be5 fails to Qf7, doesn’t it?
That Bobby Fischer was a good chess player. Wish he had kept playing.
I wanted to see him defeat Karpov in 1975.
I love these daily puzzles also. they are really waking me up from a deep sleep. I used to work puzzles maybe 10 years ago and I got to be fairly good at it. but now I have allowed it all to dissolve. now I am finding a new interest in puzzles.
I know puzzles are the best way for me to get my chess rating up there. playing a chess game is all about working out the puzzle on every move. from my side of the board and from the other side of the board.
Is f6 the winning move?
Qf7 is a good move against 1 Be5 but i think the white is very well after 1 Be5 .
Sure it is dag but as far as i see, f7 just wins for exaclty the reason kasmeri said.
f7 is forced mate: 1.f7 R8g7 (1…R4g6 2.Be5+ R8g7 3.Rxd7) 2.Be5 R4g6 3.Rxd7 Rxh6 4.Rd8+ Bf8 5.Rxf8#
After Be5 however, Black plays Qf7 and though Black’s still losing, there’s no forced win (as far as I can see, anyway): 1.Bxh7 Bf8 2.Qh3 Qxh7 3.f7+ R8g7 4.Qxg4
f7 looks good…
