Where can I play a good game of competitive chess in London?

Chess is cooler than ever thanks to few sharp minds breathing new life into the game. There’s never been a better time to get involved, as our guide explains.

In the Know question:

Where can I get a good game of competitive chess in London?

Answer:

The stuffy image of chess players is a thing of the past. This is largely thanks to people such as Sabrina Chevannes, a young entrepreneur and chess enthusiast who is helping to get people of all ages, background and ability into the game.

Her company Chevannes Chess Academy hosts tournaments in London throughout the year, with one of her most successful being the Richmond Rapidplay: a quickfire competition for players of all abilities.

Sabrina is also launching a new chess event in Clapham this September, which will focus on women and juniors.

Check out her website for more information and to sign up for the next Richmond Rapidplay, which takes place on September 16. Follow her on Twitter for lots of chess-related chatter and event information.
