The guy on the far left is definitely Spyridon Skembris- hard to miss that face. So, this was the Greek Chess Olympiad team from about around 1988-1992, thereabouts?
So, then perhaps the guy on the far right is Vasilios Kotronias? He looks a lot different today, so I can’t really tell if it is Kotronias.
Efstratios Grivas, whom you featured here in a blog post not more than a few months ago, could be the guy in the middle. I am a little more sure on this than the Kotronias ID, but not by much- I spent a few minutes going back and forth between this photo and the recent one. People change so much as they age.
Guessing: Polgar vs. Greece (+10, -3, =8) – Corfu, 1990. (L-R) Spyridon Skembris, Efstratios Grivas, & Vasilios Kotronias. vs. Skembris: Judit (+4, -0, =0), Susan (+0, -1, =1), Sofia (+0, -2, =1). vs. Grivas: Judit (+0, -0, =1), Susan (+1, -0, =1), Sofia (+2, -0, =0). vs. Kotronias: Judit (+1, -0, =2), Susan (+1, -0, =1), Sofia (+1, -0, =1). Polgar vs. Greece (+10, -3, =8).
Tom, Dick, and Harry.
I’d think that’s Greece, as the guy on the left looks like Spiridon Skembris?
I identified Kotronias, so it has to be Greece.
The other players are Efstratios Grivas and Spyridon Skembris (with the beard).
By the way: Kotronias currently started the European championship with 2,5/3.
I recognise Short and Adams, but not the other fellow.
Greece National Team.
GM Stelios Halkias, GM Vasilios Kotronias … and the GM Efstratios Grivas (?).
The A-Team! B.A. Barrakus, Face, and Hannibal pictured.
Sorry to deviate, but Sofia is really the prettiest of the Polgars.
