Every month, I receive hundreds of inquiries about chess lessons. Unfortunately, I do not have the time to take on too many private students, only very selected few. On top of that, it is also expensive and not everyone can afford private lessons.

Therefore, I am thinking about doing 3 online video classes per week: Beginners / Novice – Intermediate – Advanced. Each session would last about 40-45 minutes and then 15-20 minutes questions and answers.

That would be 4-5 lessons for each level per month. In this case, how much do you think would be a fair price to charge? Before you answer that, there is a substantial cost to set things up professionally. In addition, there is also a serious cost to maintain it and pay for the bandwidth.

Therefore, would it be affordable and reasonable to charge:

$15 / month for each level plus unlimited database access within 30 days (appropriate levels) and $12 / month if a full year is paid up front

$20 / month for each level plus unlimited database access (appropriate levels) and $15 / month if a full year is paid up front

$30 / month for a family membership plus unlimited database access (12-15 combined sessions per month for all levels) and $25 / month if a full year is paid up front

There would be specific lesson plans up front. The lessons would be done LIVE. Therefore, I would be able to answer some selected questions about the specific lessons. However, if a member cannot attend a specific session, that member can access the missed lesson within 30 days from the date of the lesson.

This would be a serious commitment. Therefore, if I am to do this, I want to do it in a professional manner. In addition, a percentage of the memberships would go to support the Susan Polgar Foundation. Suggestions and comments would be welcomed and appreciated. Thank you!
