Last night the primaries were held for the Kansas City mayoral election. Mark Funkhouser, a member of the Tuesday night chess club that meets at the Westport Flea Market got the second most votes of twelve candidates and moves on to the final election. Election night headquarters was held at the restaurant that we meet at and made for an exciting atmosphere with many local politicians sitting down for a friendly blitz game. Mark is a USCF member (12736603) and a big supporter of scholastic chess.
