Chess-in-the-Parks Rapid Open Tournament (Saturday) Little players and big players, rated and unrated: Whatever the age or skill level, all are invited to take part in this 11th annual tournament in Central Park, presented by the Department of Parks & Recreation and Chess-in-the-Schools. The day will include chess puzzles for small children; a grandmaster speed chess match at 10 a.m.; grandmaster challenges throughout the day; and rounds for players from under 10 through adult. Limited to the first 500 registrants, who are advised to bring chess sets and clocks if they have them. Check-in starts at 9 a.m.; rounds begin at 11, with the last one at 4 p.m. (Rain date, Sunday.)
