PRIMARY SCHOOL TREMBLEY CHAMPION OF THE FIRST TOURNAMENT “TOUS AUX ECHECS” !

Geneva, 12 June 2015Neva Foundation organised the 11th and 12th of June in Geneva the final of the Interscholastic Tournament “Tous aux Echecs”. 56 Geneva’s students have met during a round-robin tournament of 8 teams, all qualified from qualifications tournament starting in schools in May. After a long day of games played in a festive and passionate atmosphere, the team of Trembley eventually won the coveted trophy.

Six months after the launch of the program of the Neva Foundation teaching chess in school time, in partnership with the Department of Education, the level of play of little champions was impressive for the professionals! The presence of two former world champions delighted the children, especially the captains of teams that have faced them in duo games. Vladimir Kramnik, World champion between 2000 and 2007, and Alexandra Kosteniuk, World champion in 2008, offered beautiful memories to all those budding players in a memorable exhibition match.

On the second day, in front of an impressive crowd, Vladimir Kramnik won the blitz match against Alexandra Kosteniuk 2.5 to 1.5. A team from Pskov, Russia, came for a friendly match facing the team of Vollandes from Geneva.

Overall, 500 children participated in the First Interscholastic Tournament “Tous aux Echecs” which took place at the Théâtre les Salons.
