Teaching chess to my children is one of my favorite things to do. The most important thing for me is they WANT to learn and play and not have to. That is because I make it as fun and motivational as possible for them to enjoy.
Part of their chess activities are solving puzzles the way I have recommended in my very popular book “World Champion’s Guide to Chess”

Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
Hi Susan,
I did not know that this book is a puzzle book. In our club we work from your dad book: “5334 problems, Combinations, and Games” and after looking all over we finally succeeded to buy from Germany the out of print “Chess Middlegames”. We will look into your book also, what is the age/rating you recommend your book for?
And also we would like to ask you if you and your sisters did really study after your dad’s books?
Thanks
Andrei
It is not a book of just puzzles, it is a more general book and covers an intro to chess very well.
It also gets into Susan life story.
I can’t imagine a more thorough book for puzzles than the one you have.
Some workbooks are good to have as well. Michael Yip makes one called Checkmate University which has 624 one move chess problems. The problems are on sheets so you can give the child a sheet or two a day.

Thanks for your info, like I said, we will look into this book.
I know Michael Yip personally and I also highly recomend his workbook.
Andrei
Andrei, I also have the book and it’s really good.

Nice picture!!!… The older one seems to have a positional syle as karpov and the younger one seems to have a dinamic style as fischer 🙂 …. nice picture susan
How can you tell the styles of these 2 kids?lol
When I was young like 4 years old and so on, I felt in love with the game, playing with my mother, but she didn’t want to play as much…. So I had nobody to play with, and I was sad.
No need to make child enjoy I can guess. They just love the game or play for fun…
Here are some links to these books on Amazon and other sites.

5334 Problems …
Chess Middlegames was out of stock everywhere I checked.
I also found this other site called UGenie where you can get a good price on buying many books at the same time.
My kids loved Susan’s books as well as Chandler’s.
