I have always enjoyed visiting local chess clubs. No matter how popular Internet chess will be, chess clubs will always have a special place in my heart. I guess this comes from my own experience playing in clubs when I was younger.
Whenever I get a chance, I try to visit chess clubs at cities that I visit. Local clubs, whether adult, scholastic or mixed, will play a big role in promoting chess in the US. It is this grassroots way that will keep the spirit of chess alive and help it grow the right way.
