Very nice
Did the white queen
“check mate”
the black king?
It isn’t “Brasil” it is correctly spelled “Brazil.” Spelling errors of this type make the blog look sloppy.
This position is actually taken directly from Korchnoi-Tolush, 1958. The director felt that the other pieces detracted from the artistic value of the shot, and removed them. Something similar happened in From Russia With Love.
Actually, I think in Portuguese, it is spelled “Brasil”. Portuguese often uses S’s where Spanish would use a Z. And since Brazil is a Portuguese speaking nation…
“Brazil” is the Anglicized spelling. In their native Portuguese, it is spelled “Brasil”. Looks like the Queen is expecting a pawn 😉
A very witty picture!
Happy New Year!

Actually it looks like she is infected with an alien “chest buster”. Go watch Aliens vs. Predator to see an example…
