That’s pretty easy, as the white pawn chain indicates what needs to be done. White sacrifices all his pawns anc delivers mate with his bishop on b2.
For example: 1.Bf5 fg 2.Bg7 fxe5 3.Be4 exd4 4.Bd3 dxc3 5.Bc2 and now 5..cxb2+ 6.Bxb2# or 5..bxc2 and 6.b3# (or b4#, for that matter)
Regards,
DV
1.Bf5 f6
2.Bg7 fxe5
3.Be4 exd4
4.Bd3 dxc3
5.Bc2 cxb2+
6.Bxb2#
All black moves are forced.
1.Bf5 f6
2.Bg7 fxe5
3.Be4 exd4
4.Bd3 dxc3
5.bxc3 b2+
6.Bxb2#
5.Bc2? bxc2
6.Kxc2 cxb2
7.Bxb2# it takes 7 moves instead.
6. b3 or b4?? Stallmate
”1.Bf5 f6
2.Bg7 fxe5
3.Be4 exd4
4.Bd3 dxc3
5.Bc2 cxb2+
6.Bxb2#
All black moves are forced.”
5.Bc2 why not …bxc2
6.Kxc2 cxb2
7.Bxb2#
So, the correct line, with the same idea should be:
[Event “Checkmate in 6.”]
[Site “?”]
[Date “????.07.11”]
[Round “?”]
[White “White to move.”]
[Black “Unknown author, 1792.”]
[Result “*”]
[SetUp “1”]
[FEN “5B2/5p2/8/4P3/3P4/1pP4B/pP6/k1K5 w – – 0 1”]
[PlyCount “11”]
1.Bf5 f6
2.Ba3 fxe5
3.Be4 exd4
4.Bd3 dxc3
5.bxc3 b2+
6.Bxb2#
All moves are forced.

It looks like “losing chess”. It started from same set up as normal chess, and every pieces move as normal, except no need to respond to check (kings can be taken before the game finishes. The side which lost all pieces first wins. The rule: whenever there is a chance to capture you have to capture. If you have more than one chance to capture, you can make choice. The strategy is to find opportunity to suicide.
Hi Susan. I decided to try this out on a board instead of looking at the computer image. I spend like an hour yesterday night trying to solve this. And this morning it all came to me. The thing is, I DID NOT copy down the exact positions. As in, I forgot to include the black pawn on f7. And I found some what of a cool fight after 1)Kd2 Kxb2 2)Bb4! a1=Q 3)e6 … 🙂
