c6 wins easily.
This took more time than I imagined, I think it’s:
1. Qe6, Kb4; 2. Qb3+, Ka5; 3. Qa3++
in case of 1. .., Ka5:
2. Kb3, b4; 3. Qb6++;
and if 1. .., b4:
2. Qa6++
1. Qd6
1… b4
2. Qa6#
1… Ka5
2. Kb3 b4(forced)
3. Qb3#
1… Kb4
2.Qd3 Ka4(or Ka5)
3. Qa3#
Qh6 Kb4 2Qc1 then Qa3 mat!
Qd6 is the quickest kill
1. Qh6! Kb4
1. … Ka5 2. Kb3 b4 3. Qb6#
1. … b4 2. Qa6#
2. Qc1 Ka~ 3. Qa3#
Very interesting.
1. Qh6!!
A move to wait (it took me awhile to find it).
Now if 1…b4 2. Qa6# and if 1…Ka5 2. Kb3 b4 3. Qb6#
But the main line is even more interesting (to me).
1…Kb4 2. Qc1! (Closes the c4 square the king black)
2…Ka5 (or Ka4)
3. Qa3#
Best regards
Stef
Mate in 3.
Piece of cake.
1. Qh6
1. … Kb4 2. Qc1 Ka5 (or Ka4) 3. Qa3#
1. … Ka5 2. Kb3 b4 3. Qb6#
1. … b4 2. Qa6#
Dear Prof. S.G.Bhat:
Regarding your very excellent and humorous comment that I am “Ruth”less,
permit me to say that was a great swat with your “Bhat”.
If I am not “Ruth”less, at least I am “Lucid”.

I think that after:
1. Qd6 Kb4
2. Qd3 Kxc5 The black king escapes …
Am I wrong? 🙂
Best regards
Stef
“Long sweep”by queen.
1Qh6 Kb4
2Qc1 Ka4 or Ka5
3Qa3# or
1Qh6 Ka5
2Kb3 b4
3Qb6#
all move is force
1. Qd8
1. … Kb4
2. Qd3 Ka4 (or Ka5)
3. Qa3 mate
1. Qh6
a) … b4 2. qa6#
b) … ka5 2. Kb3 b4 3. Qb6#
c) … kb4 2. Qc1 ~ 3. Qa3#
I think 1. Qe6 also works.
*Clearly, if 1…b4, then 2.Qa6#.
*If 1…Ka5, then 2.Kb3 b4(forced), and 3.Qb6#.
*If 1…Kb4, then 2.Qb3 Ka5 3.Qa3#
Thank you Lucie for your reply,I had to look for the meaning of swat in wikipedia .I wonder how I did not know the word before.Any way what is the blog worth without you,Yancey and Venky?
Qh6 Kb4

Qh6 Kb4
Qc1 Ka5
Qa3
havn’t done a problem in months.. i still have the moves..
Qh6 with the idea of Qc1 – Qa3#
Qh6 Kb4
Qc1 Ka4 or Ka5
Qa3 mate
computer assistance… i don’t even need to use a chess board…i havn’t done problems in a awhile and i still have the moves..
I also looked first at 1Qe6,Qd6 etc.Getting stuck up I switched off computer and went for a bath. When I switched on after half an hour 1Qh6 triggered into my mind.
Moral: Don’t do any work to finish.Look at it and leave it. It will take care of itself.
Dear Stef,
If you are Stef how are you anonymous?
Dear prof.S.G.Bhat,
This is one of modern science paradoxes. 🙂
Seriously, I’ve started posting using “Stef” nick and I’ll continue to do so.
I do not use it instead of “anonymous” because it’s useless, since the admin already knows my IP and ISP. That’s because I’m not using and will not use any proxies.
Best regards
Stef
