Any relation to the IM Sevillano?
It is his son
Bacolod City, Negros Occidental is the city of origin of the Balinas Family, and the late Grandmaster and Attorney Rosendo Balinas, Jr.
Bacolod is where Rosendo grew up and finished his primary and secondary schools, and where he developed his chess talents playing in the city barber shops, and against his older brothers, Antonio and Ramon.
You can still find the Balinas clans, throughout the Negros Occidental province, particularly in the Ilog, Dancalan and Kabankalan towns.
The Bacolod dialect is Ilongo or Visayan, a unique dialect distinct from Tagalog and Cebuano.
