Nakamura is way better.
Caruana did broke the 2800 elo barrier before in live ratings @ 2700chess.com but did he actually & officially break the 2800 barrier as per FIDE monthly rating? Oh well, it appears he would officially break the 2800 elo barrier once FIDE will release the July 2014 official rankings/ratings. Congrats Caruana.
Nakamura is better in hiding & avoiding playing in high level tournaments. He purposely missed despite an invite the following strong tournaments: Norway Chess, 5th Hainan Danzou & Dortmund all in favor of playing a 4 game exhibition match with GM Navarra to milk his elo points to artificially make him # 5. He was not invited in Bilbao too. About the only invite he get nowadays is the 2nd Sinquefield Cup precisely because Mr. Sinquefield is Nakamura’s sponsor & official milking cow in an attempt to make him a world champion (in the alternate universe) . He cant even beat Carlsen, so his propsect of being a world champion is as murky as a mud as long as Magnus Carlsen is around. Nakamura has the talent but he runs his mouth more than playing great chess, that is his weakness. Less talk, less mistake or nothing at all.
Nakamura is to Carlsen as Shirov is to Kasparov. Great performance by Meier. With exposures to strong tournaments like these, Webster’s collegiate chess team will be extremely hard to beat for at least the next 4 years.
