Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
Carlsen is the real deal. Old guys like Kamsky, Ivanchuk, Leko, and Shirov are done. They should move over and let Carlsen play against Topalov.
i’ll agree that Carlsen is the real deal but Kamsky won the world cup and Ivanchuk won the Mtel masters by a record score and just won the Leon rapid tournament defeating the world champ in the final round hardly the kind of results from players who are “done” no?
I think most people are happy on behalf of Ivanchucks merits this year. He is back on top at age 39!
But, also, it gives an interesting perspective to Carlsen’s future possibilities. He is still only 17 years old…
Give Carlsen another few years to mature and he will the King!
Carlsen is already stronger than most of his peers, seems like this 5-3 result over Leko was more decisive than the Kramnik – Leko match.
I think it’s noteworthy that Leko didn’t win a SINGLE game. Prior to this match Carlsen had NEVER defeated Leko (in any kind of game). Now Carlsen scores +2 in a match that’s being arranged in Leko’s home country.
Leko is a patzer. It’s all because he has no good trainer now. He had better trainers before, who are now too fat to move, let alone teach him to win.
Peter wears glasses. When was the last time we had a blind World Champion?
Peter seems to be a nice and serious person.
In several games, Peter had the best position after the opening play. With (just a litle) luck he could have won a couple of games.
It think it’s fair to say they played quite equal. I don’t think Carlsen can be considered the better player after this match.
It was “only” a rapid match, remember. The real proof will be when they meet next time in a tournament game with regular time.

“At the press conference Magnus expressed his satisfaction with the event, with Miskolc and of course with the great result 5-3!
He volunteered that the final score was very flattering taking into account Peter’s near wins and also the time trouble win today. His play had been a bit up and down while he had generally played well in time trouble and in the endgames.”
This will simply give Magnus more confidence in himself. Soon no one will hold him back. Magnus is the real deal. He will be world champion very soon. If for no other reason then everyone will be scared stiff to play him. hahaha.
