Bg6+!!
Easy! Bg6 and mate in one!
Be5+ dxe5. Qxe5+ Kg6. Qh5++
Bg6+ 1-0
1. Bg6+ Rxg6 (Kxg6, Qh5#)
2. Qe7#
I saw this position recently reading “Wonderboy”. Magnus played this aged 12, but already almost a Grandmaster. I showed it my 7 year old who was very excited that he found the solution, doubly so when I told him Magnus played it in a game.
Of course the answer is Bg6+ with mate by the Queen on either e7 or h5 with two different types of epaulette mate (we call the one on h5 a “Swallow Tail” mate).
After 1.Bg6+ !, black will be mated.
If black takes the bishop with the rook, then he is mated with 2.Qe7. If the king captures the bishop, then 2.Qh5 is mate!
1. Bg6+ hurts.
Bg6+!
First thing I see is Bd5+ cxd5 Re7+ Kg6 Qh5#
Instead though:
Bd5+ cxd5 Re7+ Kf8 Rxd7+ Ke8 which appears to be a dead end.
The other bishop check is much better:
Bg6+ Kxg6 Qh5#
Bg6+ Rxg6 Qe7#
1.Bg6!
if
1…Kxg6 2.Qh5#
1…Rxg6 2.Qe7#
Easy one! Bg6+ – If KXg6, Qh5#, and if Rxg6, Qe7#.
1. Bg6
If 1. … Rg6 then 2. Qe7++
If 1. … Kg6 then 2. Qh5++
1. Bg6
If 1. … Rg6 2. Qe7++
If 1. … Kg6 2. Qh5++
1. Bg6+!! Rxg6 (1. … Kxg6 2. Qh5#) 2. Re7+ Kf8 3. Rxd7+ Ke8 4. Qe7#
Bg6+ KxB
Qh5 Mate
If RxB then Qe7 Mate
Bg6+ KxB
Qh5 Mate
if RXB
Qe7 mate
1) Bg6+!
….. Kxg6, 2)Qh5#
….. Rxg6, 2)Qe7#
Bg6 and game over. Either a mate on h5 or on e7.
Magnus Carlsen! The very best ever. I think 99% of the people do not realise what it takes to get to the ELO-level (ELO = prove of consistancy) he is. Every draw is loss of points! He has to win. Take a look at Super players Aronian, Kramnik, Karjakin…etc., all with great ELO fluctuation, ups and downs in big tournaments on very regular base. Kramnik and Aronian are on their top-ELO, about 2815. There is only one player! I hope he beats Anand to become World Champion (WC is a match within a match). Magnus deserves it more then anyone. His whole career deserves it. I know it’s probably subjective for most chess lovers. I also love Kasparov, Fischer, and all others. But Carlsens achievement is just unique!
1. Bg6+
If 1. .. Rxg6 2. Qe7#
If 1. .. Kxg6 2. Qh5#
1. Bg6+
If 1. .. Rxg6 2. Qe7#
If 1. .. Kxg6 2. Qh5#
1. Be4-g6+
If 1. … Rg7xg6 2. Qc5-e7#
If 1. … Kf7xg6 2. Qc5-h5#
–br
1.) Bg6+
1.) … Rxg6
2.) Qe7#
1.) … Kxg6
2.) Qh5#
Perhaps I really can play like Magnus:-)
I immediately notice the threat Qe7# if white plays e.g. Bd3, but this brings little because of e.g. Qf8.
Could there be a better place to put that bishop?
I think yes!
1. Bg6+! Kxg6 (Rxg6 Qe7#)
2. Qh5#
Nice!
It probably took Magnus 1 second to see this, it took me longer….
1. ♗g6+
1. … ♚xg6
2. ♕h5#
1. … ♜xg6
2. ♕e7#
1. Bg6 Kg6 2. Qh5
1… Rg6 2. Re7 Kf8 3. Rd7 Ke8 4. Qe7
1.Bg6+
(a)1…. Kxg6 2.Qh5#
(b)1…. Rxg6 2.Qe7#
Bg6 is most direct and surprising.
However, Bd5 also wins …
Bd5† cxd5
Rd7† Kd8 (Kg6 Qh5††)
Rd6† Kd7
Qd7† Kg6
Qxf6† Kh7
Qh6††
1Bg6+ if ..Kxg6 2Qh6++. If 1 ..Rxg6 2Qe7++
1Bg6+ if ..Kxg6 2Qh6++. If 1 ..Rxg6 2Qe7++
small error in previous posting:
1. Bd5† cxd5
2. Qxd5 Kf8 (Kg6 Qh5††)
3. Qc5† Kf7
4. Rd7† Kf8
5. Rd6† Kf7
6. Qd7† Kg6
7. Qxf6† Kh7
8. Qh6††
of course 1. Bg6† faster 🙂
1. Bg6+ wins easily!
What am I missing?
1.Bg6+ If 1…Rxg6 2.Qe7#. If 1…Kxg6 2.Qh5#. Hope I did not miss anything.
