IM Tomas Krnan from Canada claimed a clear first place and a Grandmaster norm with a 7,5-points finish at the V4 OPEN – International Championship of Slovakia 2013.

The Stiavnica’s Chess Festival took on 6th-14th July at the Cultural and public centre, Kammerhofská 1 (downtown), Banská Štiavnica, Slovakia.

The main event of the Festival was the V4 Open (9-round Swiss), which was also regarded as the 2013 Slovakian Chess Championship.

GM Peter Michalik edged the other local players on tie-break to claim the title of the Slovakian champion. Michalik shared the second place with 7,0/9 points and finished third overall.

IM Eva Repkova (6 points, 20th place) became the Slovakian women’s champion. Official website.
