Bu Xiangzhi lifts the trophy in Hainan Danzhou Chess Tournament

The 3rd Hainan Danzhou Grandmaster Chess Tournament was organized by the Chinese Chess Association from 29th May to 7th June in Danzhou, China.

Traditionally, ten top Chinese Grandmasters competed in the round robin event. The average elo of the players was 2631.

Bu Xiangzhi and former Asian champion Ni Hua shared the first place with 6.0 points each, but Bu grabs the winner’s trophy on better tie-break. Bu repeated the success from the 1st Hainan Danzhou Super Tournament.

The winner of the 2nd Hainan Danzhou Super Tournament Yu Yangyi shared the 3rd place.

The lowest-rated player Wen Yang performed well and landed in the upper standings, while Women World Champion Hou Yifan finished last.

1-2. GM Bu Xiangzhi CHN 2656 and GM Ni Hua CHN 2673 – 6.0

3-5. GM Wen Yang CHN 2550, GM Yu Yangyi CHN 2626 and GM Ding Liren CHN 2679 – 5.0

6. GM Zhao Jun CHN 2577 – 4.5

7-9. GM Zhou Jianchao CHN 2609, GM Wang Yue CHN 2690 and GM Zhou Weiqi CHN 2624 – 3.5

10. GM Hou Yifan CHN 2623 – 3.0
