The 2nd Copa AES was organized by the Dominican Chess Federation (FDA) under the sponsorship of the Foundation AES Dominicana from 1st to 7th December.
The 9-round Swiss open with 36 participants was played in the Hall of the Dominican Olympic Committee in Santo Domingo.
Cuban Grandmaster Lazaro Bruzon Batista won the tournament in convincing manner by finishing with 7,5/9 points, a full point clear of the rest of the field. Full standings bellow.
