That was fun. I studied this puzzle for 15 minutes and never saw the solution. Then it jumped right out at me.
That was fun. I didnt see the solution and then after 10 minutes it jumped right out at me.
I was there. Less than 5 seconds after Bc5 was played, Moiseenko resigned!
The last moves of the game were
Bd4x pawn a7 Ra8-d8 (Bishop was taboo because if Rxa7, Rd7 and either the rook h8 is lost or the bishop at e7, with murderous pressure of both white rooks at the seventh) and then Ba7-c5 played almost immediately by MVL
Many correct answers for first move here, but i only see “pratik” giving the relevant lines.
Critical must be his third line.
I notice that nothing was played by black after 1. Bc5 in the actual game….
