After spending 15 minutes trying to make Nh4 or Nxg3 or Rxe1 work. I saw the solution : Re2!! and there is no defense. white will lose a lot of material and get mated.
Looks like some position in 20th century game.Probably easiest solution in recent postings. No need to copy the position on chess board for analysis. 1.Re2 Rxe2 2.Qxh2# mate was threatened. (1… Qxe2 fails against 2.Nxg3#) 2.Nxg3+ this mve comes any way. 2….. Qxg3 3.Qxf1+ Qg1 4.Qxg1#
Haven’t checked it with a computer, but 1…Re2 looks like the answer. White needs the queen covering g3 to defend against Nxg3 mate, and this deflects/overloads it, e.g.:
My previous comment should have started with 1…. Re2 with every move displaced forward by one step.I took 2.Qf2 for granted as I had ignored white B on d2 supporting R at e1.So white can play 2.Rf2 which black replies by 2…Bxf2 and again white is in a fix. 3.Rg1 Nxg3+ 4.Rxg3 Qf1+ 5.Rg1 Qxg1 #.
1…Re2
There does not appear to be any reasonable defence to the threat of 2. … Q:h2#
If 2. Q:e2 N:g3+ +/-
If 2. R:e2 N:g3+
3. Q:g3 Q:f1+ +/-
1. … Re2! Yow!
Next comes … Ng3+

1….Re2!!!!
2.Rxe2 Nxg3+ (2.Qze2 Nxg3#)
3.Qxg3 Qxf1+
4.Qg1 Qxg1#
1. Nf5xg3+ wins the White Queen.
–br
..Rxe1
Bxe1 Nxg3+ Qxg3 Qxf1+ Qg1 Qxg1#
Rxe1 Nh4 Qf1 dead end
So
..Re2!?
Qxe2 Nxg3+ +-
Rxe2 Nxg3+ Qxg3 Qf1+ Qg1 Qxg1#
Rf2 Rxf2 +-
Qg2 Qxg2#
Re2
Nxg3+ 0-1?

2. Nxg3+

Anything I missed?

Nxg3?? Qxg3
Lorfa has it right with Re2. The analysis seems right but why “!?”after Re2. It just seems to win!
First move of Nxg3ch doesn’t work because of Qxg3
