I love that movie!
I believe it was the movie Hamlet with Mel Gibson that was filed at this location.
Hmmm IMDB doesn’t seem to know about that movie, although there is Braveheart staring Mel Gibson…
IMDB clearly doesn’t know everything, because the Donnottar Castle website says this:
“Dunnottar Castle is available as a film location and has previously been used for a wide variety of productions both large and small, and most significantly for the 1990 film version of Hamlet, Staring Mel Gibson.”
http://www.dunnottarcastle.co.uk/filming.cfm
You can find the locations used in Braveheart here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0112573/locations
The Hamlet movie is listed on the IMDB as http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0099726/
It says it starred our friend Mel, and was filmed partly at Dunnottar Castle.
Ain’t the internet wonderful.
Hamlet 3 Brave Heart 0.
Still, Dunnottar Castle looks nothing like Elsinor Castle
