The Tunisian Chess Federation and “Le Carre Royal K.Mediouni Chess Club”, with the support of East Moscow Chess Federation and Russian State Sports University (Moscow, RSUPESY&T), are organizing the 1st Chess International Festival Fischer Memorial in Sousse (Tunisia, from 19th to 31st July 2013), devoted to the 70-years anniversary of the 11-th World Champion Bobby Fischer.

In the program are included multiple chess tournaments, master-classes, scientific conference, different shows, and wide-ranging excursion program. In memory of the 11th World Champion additional events in Fischer 960 chess will be included in the program, while participants can enjoy visiting multiple local landmarks and even a laser show.

The venue of the Fischer Memorial will be the city of Sousse, Mövenpick Hotels and Resorts. Besides the general hotel – one of the best in Tunisia – 5-stars “Mövenpick”, where the main events of the festival will be held, the participants can get accommodation in high-class hotels near the general venue: “Riadh Sousse Palm” and “Marabout Sousse Hotel”.

A) International scientific conference, devoted to the 70-years anniversary of the 11-th World Champion R. Fischer and his participation in the Interzonal tournament of 1967 in Sousse – the first world level event on the African continent. Participation under request, also it is possible to take part via Internet (Friday, July 19th).

B) Show-games «Fischer Chess» (Random Chess / 960 – Friday, July 30th).

C) Open blitz chess tournament with the international rating counting: (Saturday, July 20th). Entry fee: 10 EUR. Prize fund: 100% of the entry fees.

D) Open rapid chess tournament with the international rating counting and the possibility of making national (Russian Federation) norms: (Sunday, July 21st – Monday, July 22nd). Entry fee: 15 EUR. Prize fund: 100% of the entry fees.

E) Open classical chess tournament with the international rating counting, the chances of making international FIDE titles norms: (Tuesday, July 23rd – Monday, July 29th). The minimal prize fund 2 000 EUR. Main category prizes: 600 / 300 / 200 / 100. Rating category ELO 2000-2999 prizes: 250 / 150 / 100. Rating category ELO under 2000 and without rating prizes: 150 / 100 / 50. Entry fee: 50 EUR. For seniors (1953 year of birth and older) and women: 30 EUR. For children (1999 year of birth and younger): 25 EUR.

F) Round-robin tournaments with the International Master norm (Tuesday, July 23rd – Monday, 29th).

G) Open Youth classical chess tournament with the international rating counting, (Sunday, 21st – Saturday 27th).

H) Friendly match-tournament of children teams from Tunisia, Russia, France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Ukraine, Poland and etc. (Sunday, July 28th – Monday, 29th)

I) Master-class of the International Grandmaster, FIDE Senior Trainer, FIDE International Organizer, Head of Chess Department in Russian State Sports University (Moscow, RSUPESY&T), Igor GLEK / № 12 in the world in 1996 (Saturday July, 20th – Monday, July 29th).

J) Animation program “Chess and Mind Games” in different hotels of Sousse and Monastir (show, «beach chess», «chess-pong», «chess swimming», contests and quizzes for children and adults (also for relatives of the children, who participate in the tournaments) and etc. – students of chess department of Russian State Sports University (RSUPESY&T): (Saturday, July 20th – Monday, July 29th).

K) Simultaneous game of International Grandmaster Igor V. Glek and students of chess department of Russian State Sports University (RSUPESY&T) on 100 boards: (Sunday, July 28th). Entry fee: 10 EUR. Prizes: ware prizes.

L) Excursion program for the participants and the attendants (Jeep trip to the desert of Sahara, camel riding, visiting of the ancient Carthago, ancient Poman cities of Dugga, Cidi bu Said, the amphitheatre in Al Jemma, the capital of Tunisia, the port of Bizert, the troglodytes’ grottos, mausoleum of Cidi Sahby, pools of Aghlabids, Thermae, African zoo of Frigia and dolphinarium, Zulu evening, sea walk on the pirates, walk on the all-terrain vehicle with the visit of the ostrich farm and etc.: (Saturday, July 20th – Monday, July 29th).

M) Special excursion for the participants of the tournaments – Laser Show with the folk evening, the performance of Tunisian history with special effects, belly dance, traditional supper (Saturday, July 27th). Participation: 40 EUR.

N) Final chess night in Monastir – awarding, supper (Monday / Tuesday, July 29th/30th). Participation: 5 EUR (children); 10 EUR (adults).
