g5 comes to mind…
”g5 comes to mind…”
and what after
1…g5
2.Qd6 0r 2.Qc7
?
then Qh5
Gotta be Bxe5
That’s what I thought too, however, I could not get it to work after 1.Bxe5 fxe5 2.Qxe5+ Qf6 and now how to continue?! It seems to me that black can cover all the threats pretty well here.
what about gxf5 to free up the Qe2 to Qh5 diagonal and penetrate the black king’s corner?
that’s what I intended with my first suggestion (g5), only that I thought about moving the pawn forward rather than exchanging it on f5 as it might come in handy for an attack on the black king (e.g. g6 after Qh5)
alright, I thought of these lines but I’m not sure if they’re 100% correct.
1.g5 threating 2.Qh5 and white wining on the spot.
I figured that black has three options
A) 1….PxB
B) 1….PxP
C) 1….Qc7 (with the idea of playing 2…Bf8 and stoping the mate threats)
So…
A) that simply loses to
2. QxB with mate on f8
B) 2.BxP+ Bf6
3.Bb2! Kg7 (since 3…Bd7 4,Qe7 mates& 3…Qe8 4.Qe8+ also mates)
4.Qe7+ Kg6
5.Bf7 wins
C) 2.Qh5 (threating 3.Qf7 Qd8 4.g6 hxg 5.Bh6 and mating)
2……… Bf8 (only move)
3.gxf! PxB (forced since white was planning to play 4.BxP 5.Qf7 next)
4.Qe8! Qd6
5.Qf7 mates.
Pretty good game for a girl.
