Some of the players that will compete at the European Club Cup and the Chess Masters Final, which will be held simultaneously from 14 to 20 September, have lent their image to promote Bilbao Chess 2014.
The promotional advert produced by the organizers of both events in order to encourage visitors features Ukrainian GM Ruslan Ponomariov, Spanish GM Francisco Vallejo, and Bulgarian GM Veselin Topalov. The former two will play the Masters Final, whereas the latter will play for Socar (Azerbaijan), one of the clear favorites at the European Cup.
The other two participants of the 7th Masters Final, apart from Ponomariov and Vallejo, will be five-times World Champion Viswanathan Anand, and twice Olympic champion and #2 in world ranking Levon Aronian. 404 international men and women chess players from 60 clubs belonging to 31 European federations are registered to compete at the European Chess Club Cup.
The so-called Champions League of chess will gather most top 50 world chess players. Chess enthusiasts can attend this big sports event free of charge.
