Are we now going to discuss the worlod ranking after each round?! Please not…
DV
I’m glad Carlsen’s opponent didn’t give the point away this time.
Biel is not world top, so why hysterically or nervously showing top 6 rating lists? Anand and Kranik play for the real stuff in a few months time.
Some people like to see the ratings daily which is why the ‘live list’ was popular.
Ofcourse even if Carlsen gets to be virtual world number 1- it doesn’t count officially. Wait until near October to see what happens on the official FIDE list.
But there are often people asking ‘what is Carlsen’s rating going to be now?’ when it is so easy to calculate that why not just give it for those people?
Why is the live rating list not being updated anymore?
Really, this daily update of rating lists is ridiculous. It does not tella nything about how people got to their ratings.
It should be important if a player wins an important tournament, e.g. Linares or Wijk aan Zee. And this is the way it should be, i.e. looking at the accomplishments rather than inflated rating numbers.
True, it is nice to see the progress in the world rankings, but daily updates?! Just post the link and call it a day…
I mean it was spectaculiar today. Alekseev is as talented as carlsen!
okay
The ELO-fetischism is a annoying!
I think that any virtual rating calculation during the tournament are just very temporary, and so really one should be satisfied with just knowing that Carlsen’s virtual rating will be 2777.1 + 10 (number of wins less number of losses) at the end of the 10 game tournament. You can all calculate for yourselves if you like.
Correction:
I think that any virtual rating calculation during the tournament are just very temporary, and so really one should be satisfied with just knowing that Carlsen’s virtual rating will be 2777.1 + 5 (number of wins less number of losses) at the end of the 10 game tournament. You can all calculate for yourselves if you like.
(the mistaken 10 earlier was due to each win only being worth 0,5 more than draw)

“
So who won Corus and who was runner up @ Linares?
Oh, I see…
You don’t see, obviously.
It’s about results rather than daily live ratings. That was the message, nothing against a particular player.
Of course I don’t see!
What do you expect?!!!
