Azerbaijani grandmaster Shahriyar Mammadyarov has climbed to the ninth place in the current ranking of the world’s strongest chess players.

It happened after a failed tournament of Italian chess player Fabiano Caruana (current rating – 2756.8) in Wijk aan Zee. Now he is at the 13th place.

Shahriyar Mammadyarov, who has not yet played in the 2013 ranking party, rose one step becoming the ninth (2766).

Leader of the rating is Magnus Carlsen (Norway, 2872.3).

Teymur Rajabov (Azerbaijan, 2793) ranks fourth, while Vugar Hashimov (Azerbaijan, 2737), who has not played due to health, dropped to the 19th place.
