Azerbaijani President receives head of Int’l Chess Federation

Azerbaijani President has today received Head of the International Chess federation Kirsan Ilyumzhinov.

Touching upon extensive introduction of the “Chess at School” program in Azerbaijan, Ilyumzhinov noted importance of President’s confirming the State Program on Development of Chess dated 2009, 1news.az reports quoting official website of the President as saying.

The guest appreciated the government’s care towards development of chess in Azerbaijan.

In his turn, President Ilham Aliyev expressed confidence in logical continuation of Chess in Schools program in Azerbaijan. Emphasizing successful development of chess in the country, the President said chess schools in all cities of the country have been restored.

Referring to preparations for the forthcoming International Chess Festival Baku Open-2013 in Baku, President Ilham Aliyev thanked the Head of the World Chess Federation for the support to the initiatives of Azerbaijan.
