1. Nh6+
1.Nh6+ Kh8 (gxh6?? Qxf6 +-) 2.Bf5 Be6 3.Nxf7+! +-
in answer to the question how does white continue the attack, well I see that nh6ch might do it, as if pxn then
Qxn on f6 with mate to follow and if the black King goes to h8 then Qxf6 also!
Sac on Icc
interesting position and web page!
it’s not that easy, folks! either the puzzle has a little “hole” or i’m in “Topalov mode” today … ^^
1.nh6+ kh8! (1…gxh 2.qxf6 rxc3 3.rxc3 +- as pointed out previously)
2.qxf6?? gxf6
3.bxf6+ bg7 -+
but:
2.bf5 qb7!
and white has nothing better than
3.bxc8 rxc8
of course with a +/- edge but still a long way to go …
somewhat at a loss, Vohaul
Two ideas I had were
nh6+ Kh8
Qg5 Rc6 (Bxf6 is threatened)
Rcd1 and the black queen must stay guarding f7. Not sure exactly where this leads, but it looks pretty good.
Or,
Re3 and then Rh3 and not sure what black can do to prevent being overwhelmed.
Note that the Black Bishop on b3 is controlling f7.
1. Nh6+ Kh8
2. Qg5
Sure this wins..
1.nh6+ kh8
2.qg5 rc5! =/+
can not be the solution …
greetz, Vohaul
1. Nh6+ Kh8
2. Qg5 Rc5
3. Re5
does Nxh7 work? … Bxh7, Qg5 (heading for h4 — the target being h7 after Bxf6)
after 1.nh6 kh8 2. bf5 qn2 3. bxc8 rxc8 4. qg5 black has problems on the back rank. bxn is threatened and ne4 is no good…simply rxn
1.nh6+ kh8 (not 1… pxn 2. qxn and mates) 2. bf5 wins the exchange (2…be6 3 nxf7+ wins a pawn in addition to the exchange) An example of how things might go further is 2…qb7 3.bxr rxb 4. bd4 (discouraging rc5
