Rxh6
Rxh6
Rh6
i guess Rxh6, and then
if … Rxh6, then Qf8+
if … gxh6, then Qf6
if … Qxa2, then Rxh8+
i think, this would work out somehow. greets, jan
Rxh6!
Rxh6!
I kept looking at R:h6 but after the simple G:h6….(Of course…anybody could see that R:h6 loses on the spot) I can’t see what White can play.
R:h6 is not a win….(Well….if black plays very badly with the reply r:h6) I honestly can’t see the win here.
R:h6 g:h6 (R:h6 is ridiculously bad) Followed by Qf6…shuts the door.
Rxh6 snatches a pawn but after
1…Rg8 I see nothing better than to retreat the rook.
1. R*h6 is a logical move. But I’m surprised no-one has listed the most logical response, namely 1…R-g8.
While White has a slight advantage, and may win ultimately, the direct winning line is unclear. e.g.
1 Rxh6 Rg8
2 Qf7+ (I cannot find anything better than this) Rxf7
3 gxf7+ Kf8
4 Rxe6! (needed otherwise this will likely lose) Qd8
5 fxg8=Q+ Kxg8
6 Ra6 (there is no clear line here, Kb1 may be an alternative or Rd6) Qg5+
7 Kb1 Qg2
and there are chances on both sides but white stands better likely.
psyche/ anonymous.
1.Rxh6!!
a)1…Rxh6 2.Qf8+ Kd7 3.Rf7 Kc6 4.Qd6+ Kb5 5. Rxb7+
b)1…gxh6 2.Qf6! Kd7 3.Qxh8 or 2…Rg8 3.Qxe6+
