How would you assess this game? What rating level do you think Player A belong to?
Player 1 must be low rated. Perhaps a junior with not too much experience.
Player A must be around 1800. Player B must be around 1400.
White 2000 Black 1600/1700
White player: 1400-1500, black player: 1300-1400?
A:1450
B:1650

Is the white player Tom Polgar?
I’d say both players were not from complete beginners and I’d be surprised if either of them had been playing for more than a year.
Both sides made several blunders which I would expect the kids in my under 9 team to see, though White did do a pretty good job of hoovering up the pawns at the end.
Some of the comments seem harsh. We’ve got a lot of worse players at our club (possible me included).
White overlooked some tactics, but found plenty of others. As others suggests white lacks experience, but has plenty of fire.
Reduce chess skill to a single number – bah.
Blacks play was rather uninspired, but hey someone loses in most games of chess.
Looks like a question by a proud mom 🙂
wow, jon, you must be a horribly unencouraging chess coach. or, at the very least, an asshole.
A: 1050 DWZ
B: 950 DWZ
the blunders on move FIVE – by BOTH players (5.Qf3? (instead of 5.Nf3) and even worse 5…Nbd7? (instead of 5…Bg4! winning) reveal serious deficiencies in opening knowledge.
Another thing (independent from some hair-raising middlegame blunders by both players) is the obvious problem of player B to finish a won game (e.g. 27… bxa4 ?? instead of 27… Rg7!). That’s why i think, black’s rating is worse than white’s is.
just my two pence …
greetings
so, what are the two players rated???
My guess: Player A is an 800 who played mostly like a 1100 in this game.
uhm… how come nobody has asked about the time control?? how can you asses the game in the same way not knowing if this is 1+ hr or 1 minute 0 inc.?
i have seen strong players blunder away a rook or miss a win in 1minute bullet on the internet…
My guess would be:
Player A – 1000-1200 (1125?)
Player B – 800-1000 (900?)
As pointed out before, opening knowledge is lacking and both players missed many tactics in the middlegame (for one that hasn’t been mentioned: 45….Ra1?? 46. Qe6?, instead of 46. Qe5+ forking K & R).
I would be surprised if Player A was rated any higher than 1200 after missing several elementary tactics. I would also be shocked to find Player A was rated under 900.
I would guess Player B is rated at least 200 points below Player A.
However, there were some very nice ideas that were, occasionally, nicely executed. I would guess these are two promising young players, with plenty yet to learn.
If there is a Polgar in the bunch (as some have speculated), my money is on Leeam. I think Tommy is much more advanced than this.
