School asks kids to leave “celebratory” clothing at home

Newton schools are asking parents to have their kids leave so-called “celebratory” clothing at home. School officials say this is becoming a trend at Oak Hill and other Newton middle schools. They say it leads to other kids feeling excluded and reminded they were not included in the festivities.

This is similar to the concept that there should be no trophies to the winners and everyone should just get medals as many organizers started to do. Should all kids get the same grades no matter if they work hard or not because kids with lower grades may feel bad? Should everyone have the same level of wealth no matter how many hours they put in because it is the fair thing to do? What is your take?
