Angola Wins African Junior Chess Championship

Saurimo — Angolan Esperança Caxita retained Monday her African title in women’s junior chess after beating her countrywoman, Joana Delfina, in the 8th and penultimate round held in Saurimo city, eastern Lunda Sul province.

Caxita beat her opponent with a score of 1,468 points.

While, Maria Domingos, also one of the seven Angolan players in the competition, overcome Domingas Tavares (Angola) having achieved the International Master’s Title, although the athlete will have to await the decision by the International Federation of Chess (FIDE).

The distinction, according to regulations, is attributed to the continental champions.
