Much time has passed since its first edition, back in 1983. Currently aims to convert the tournament in a place where players and fans can combine the practice of chess and leisure opportunities in this little country.

The 2010 edition of the Andorra Chess Open will be held under the following rules:

  1. The tournament will be a nine round Swiss. It will be held from the 17th to the 25th July 2010. It will take place at the Sant Gothard Hotel in Erts (La Massana).
  2. The time control is 40 moves in 90 minutes and 30 minutes to finish with an increment of 30 seconds per move starting from the first move.
  3. Matches timetable will be from 15:30h daily, except the first and second round at 16:00h and the last round that will be from 09:30h.
  4. Clocks will be started punctually. Any player not presented after 30 minutes since the beginning of the match, will not score. After two successive defaults and without any justification any player will be eliminated.
  5. An appeals committee will be chosen by the participants before the beginning of the first round, and it will be made up by 5 participants, two of whom will act as substitutes in case that some conflicts affecting one of the entitled come up.
  6. Any complaints have to be made in writing and have to be presented to the Appeal Committee within one hour after the end of the session.
  7. Smoking will not be allowed in the tournament Hall.
  8. Players will not be able to leave the tournament hall without a justification or the permission of the arbiter.
  9. The fees have to be paid before the beginning of the first round. The organization will accept a limit of 180 inscriptions.
  10. The play-off system will be decided once the tournament has been finished, in the presence of the appeal committee and among the following options: Accumulatif system, Bucholz, Bucholz Total and Performance. The play-off will be valid both for the classification and the achievement of trophies and cash prizes which will not be divided among the players that have drown. The closing ceremony is the 25th July at 16:00h.
  11. The registration of the players will take place the 17th July in the Tournament Hall before 13:00h. The non registered players that won’t give us an advice won’t be paired in the first round.
  12. This tournament will be governed by the current rules of FIDE (interpretations and appendices included) norms to which all the participants will be subjected during the tournaments.
