From the 4th to the 14th June in France there being are held celebrations dedicated to the to 70th Anniversary of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy. Within this event in Caen are taking place The Forum of Liberty and the European Youth Parliament.
In the context of it, on the 4th of June there was organized the simultaneous exhibition between the 12th World Champion Anatoly Karpov and the members of the European Youth Parliament and the players of Alekhine Chess Club of Caen.
The organizers of the simul are the Russian Chess Federation (RCF), Franco-Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIFR), Caen Memorial and the European Youth Parliament.
The event was visited by the RCF President Andrei Filatov and the CCIFR President Emmanuel Quidet.
The Caen Memorial and co-organizer of the Forum of Liberty and Solidarity general director Stéphane Grimaldi took part in the simul, as well as the CCIFR general director and the RCF vice-president Pavel Chinsky.
