Agree with everything else but Seconds: Anand??? How can that be? Surely Carlsen will have Seconds of at least equal caliber?. And what about imputs from Peter, Anand’s second for all these years?
The list forgot the most important comparative factor – Relative Strength (as measured by FIDE rating). Carlsen is 100 pts ahead here. And don’t say this doesn’t mean much just because it’s a match format. It’s like pitting top-seeded Djokovic versus the 10th seed. Surely you’d expect the top seed to win.
Exactly, they are almost 100 Elo apart (and Carlsen is still getting better, while Anand is well below his peak and falling). The real question is, will Anand even win a game? (I imagine that he may draw a few).
Anand’s best chance is that Carlsen may eat a bad curry.
