My first intuition in 57. for black was to move Kf4. It moves black king closer to action.
I was puzzled why you commentators talked about 57. – Kf6 and calling this as coming “closer to a draw”.
I am no chess master. So, your commentary must have been sloppy or needs thorough explanation: Why didn’t you see the Kf4 coming? What did I miss? What did Anand miss?!
That was an amazing endgame by Carlsen. When Houdini suddenly spiked his winning chances to 85% my brain fell out.
Mumbai Mirror article identifies the 57. Rg8+ as the weak move for Anand that cost him the draw.
The article does not cite sources or who identified this move.
It is interesting. So according to this after 57. Rg8+ Kf6 the black had won a winning advantage. Is this truly so?
What is then the better move for white 57. that would have lead to a draw?
