Even with a small sampling of around 120 votes, Anand is the clear choice of the voters as the best player of 2007.
Kramnik is not a surprising choice at #2 since he finished behind Anand in Mexico City.
However, the biggest surprise here is 15% voted for Carlsen and only 8% each for Ivanchuk (who seemed to win just about everything earlier in the year) and Kamsky who is in the World Cup final against Shirov who scored only 4%.
The someone else category which could include Topalov, Mamedyarov, Aronian, Radjabov or any other player only got 1% of the votes.

Go Gata!
I think Gata should be higher.
Well you can only vote for a first place. Anand deserves first place. Kamsky is certainly up there but Anand has a longer run of great games.
I would be willing to vote 2nd place for Gata but the poll only allows for a first place vote.
Now if Kamsky keep winning. Afterall, 2007 is not over just yet.
Topalov has won great tournament, or well placed..i think if he have had his name in the poll, probably ha would have had some votes.

Also Kramnik coming second in the poll was not a surprise as he came second in Mexico was stated- but then what about poor Gelfand? Gelfand should be aknowledged and be on the list- as should Topalov- ahead of Shirov, Kamsky, and Carlsen (as earlier poster said 2007 not finished yet- but Shirov/kamsky/Carlsen have a way to go before they come within a point of the title as Gelfand did, or be as successful as Topalov in tournaments.
Do not forget Gelfand’s success! (I am sure Topalov however will be argued for enough)
