Agha Faisal Khan Wins Sultan Khan Memorial Chess Tournament at Lahore

Chess Federation of Pakistan organized Sultan Khan Memorial Rapid Chess Tournament at Lahore on 28th February to 2nd March to pay homage to the great player of the 30s. The tournament was played on a 7-round Swiss League basis with a time control of 25 minutes + 5 seconds per move. 48 player from two Federations participated in the tournament including International Master Mahmood Lodhi and 7 National Masters from different geographical regions of Pakistan.

Mr. Agha Faisal Khan from Lahore showed excellent form by securing 6 points and won the tournament on tiebreak. Mr. Irfan Aslam was 2nd with equal 6 points while Mr. Ahmad Naeem stood 3rd with 5.5 points. IM Mahmood Lodhi was 4th with 5.5 points.

Dr. Naeem Hamid Mirza, General Secretary CFP distributed trophies and cash prizes among the top 5 contestants. He also unveiled the plans of the Federation to organize similar Chess Tournament in memory of National Chess Champions from the era of 1965 to 1983. Total Prize fund of the tournament was 10,000 Pk Rs.
