Well, my first thought was a sacrifice at c6 with the bishop, but then I quickly noticed that this is mate for black starting with Qb1+. After playing with variations on Bf3 to threaten Bg4 and to hold back the mate I mentioned above, it occurred to me that Bh3+ immediately would be just as good since the black rook can’t leave the back rank. The rest falls quickly into place:
1. Bh3
Black has no holding options- f5 or g4 and the bishop just takes again with check since those squares are controlled by white’s queen and rook respectively and black just faces the same dilemma as before. The king moves Kb8 and Kc7 are mates starting with Qe5+. Of course, black can give up the queen for the bishop at e6 and lose that way. Or take at h3 with the rook, but as I mentioned, that loses too:
1. …..Rh3
2. Qf8 Kc7
3. Qd8#
Bh3+ g4
Bxg4 Qxg4
Rxg4
Bh3+ g4
Bxg4 Kb8
Qh5+ Ka8
Qxh8+ Nc8
Qxc8++
Bh3 Rxc3
Qf8+ Kc7
Qd8++
nice and simple… that was about 20 seconds…when the wolverine smells fresh meat.. its time to eat..
Bh3+,Nd7?
Bxd7+,Kc7!
Qe5+,Qd6 or Kb3, either way, plot thickens!! blacks game deteriorates quickly with Bh3+!! no credible defense alternative for blacky… tanx!!
Bh3+ is the move.
Black is mated if RxB, as the Queen checks and ends up mating on d8.
Bh3+ f5
Bxf5+ Qxf5
Qxf5+ wins the queen for free.
so the only other choices are:
Bh3+ Kb8
Qe5+ Ka8
Qxh8+ with checkmate.
or
Bh3+ Kc7
Qe5+ Qe6
Qxe6#
Bh3+ is the beginning of the end for blacky!!
Bh3+,Nd7?
Bxd7+,Kc7!
Qe5+,Qd6 or Kb6, either way, plot thickens!! blacks game deteriorates quickly with Bh3+!! no credible defense alternative for blacky… tanx!!
1. Bh3+
1. … RxB
2. Qf8+
2. … Kc7
3. Qd8+ Nd7
4. QxN+
2. … f5
3. Bxf5+
4. xQ
+/-
bh3+
han
1. Be4, Qh5, 2. Qd6 (threatening 3. Bf5+) 2…Qh2+ 3. Kf1 Qh3+ 4. Ke1
Be4
I think
1. Bh3+ Rxh3
2. Qf8+ Kc7
3. Qd8 #
or
1. Bh3+ Kb8
2. Qe5+ gets the rook and mate soon.
Basically, other responses after Bh3+ (such as g4/f5 loses)
1. Bh3+ [Rxh3 2. Qf8+ Kc7 3. Qe7+ Kc8 4. Qd8#]
Kb8
2. Qe5+ Ka8
3. Qxh8+ Nc8
4. Qxc8#
1.Bh3+!
Since 1… Qb1+ or 1… Rxh3+ does not prevent White from mating.
The correct move would be;
1. Bh3+!
This will lead to a mate in the next two moves if black captures the bishop with the rook. If not, it will result in a loss of rook after 1….Kb8 with 2.Qe5+ and eventual mate in the next 2 moves.
Thanks,
Henry
Bh3+ Rxh3
Qf8+ Kc7
Qd8 mate
Or
Bh3 Kb8 or Kc7
Qe5+ forking the Rook.
And it is also mate soon.
Very nice tactic!!
Thank you!
Bh3+ then either Qf8+, Qd8 or Qe5+
1.Bh3+ Nd7
(1.-Rxh3 2.Qf8+ Kc7 3.Qe7+ Nd7 4.Qxd7+ Kb8 5.Qd8++)
(1.-g4 2.Bxg4+ just leads to the main line)
2.Bxd7+ and now 2.-Kb8 or 2.-Kc7 3.Qe5+ wins the rook or 2.-Kd8 3.Bf5+ wins
the queen.
1.Bh3+ Kb8/c7 (1…Rxh3 2.Qf8+ Kc7 3.Qd8 mate !) 2.Qe5+ double attack ! 1-0
1.Bh3!!
If
1…Rxh3 2. Qf8 Kc7 3.Qd8#
1…g4 (or f5 2.Bxf5+) 2.Bxg4+ Kc7 3.Qe5+ Threatening the rook on h8
We have to notice that black rook is chained to 8th rank, allowing the direct shot
1. Bh3 Kb8 (Rxh3 Qf8+ Kc7 Qd8#)
2. Qe5+ Ka8
3. Qxh8 Nc8
4. Qxc8#
Whites strong second move Qe5+ taking rook was also important to see here.
Black has no good defence, e.g:
1. … Kc7
2. Qe5+ Kc8
3. Qxh8+ Kc7
4. Qd8#
1. … g4
2. Bxg4 Qxg4
3. Rxg4
and white is up with queen.
1. … f5
2. Bxf5
same shit for black.
1. … Nd7
2. Bxd7+ Kd8
3. Bf5 discovered +
same shit for black.
Easy! 1.Bh3+! Rxh3 (1…Kc7? 2.Qe5+ and 3.Qxh8) 2.Qf8+ Kc7 3.Qd8#
Black can try to hang on after 1.Be4? Qf6. Instead, 1.Bh3+! crushes. The bishop takes anything that interposes; 1…Rxh3 is mated by 2.Qf8+ Kc7 3.Qd8; and either king move is destroyed by 2.Qe5+.
how about this:
1. Bh3+ Rxh3
2. Qf8+ Kc7
3. Qd8#
1. … g4
2. Bxg4+ Kc7
3. Qe7+ Kb8
4. Rd8+ Rxd8
5. Qxd8# or
3. … Nd7
4. Rxd7+ Kb6
5. Qb4+ Ka6
6. Bf1+ Qd3
7. Bxd3+ b5
8. Qa3+ Kb6
9. Qxa7#
or simply
1. … Kb8
2. Qe5+ Ka8
3. Qxh8+ Qg8
4. Qxg8+ Nc8
5. Qxc8#
black can escape mate only by giving the queen:
1. … g4
2. Bxg4+ Qxg4
3. Rxg4
greets, jan
1.Bh3+
Bh3+!
Bh3 check, with some back-rank magic!
1.Bh3+ Kb8 (1…Rxh3 2.Qf8+ Kc7 3.Qd8#) 2.Qe5+ Ka8 3.Qxh8+.
1)Bh4, Rh4
2)Qf8 Kc7
3)Qd8#
1 bh3 rh3 if kb8 qe5 and next follows
2 qf8 kC7
3 qd8#
1. Bh3+, Rxh3 2. Qf8+, Kc7 3. Qd8++.
