ACP Women Cup – Day One

The ACP Women Cup has started on 18th of February in Tbilisi, Georgia. Round robin tournament with twelve participants is played with the time control of 20 minutes per game with an increment of five seconds per move.

Two rounds were scheduled for the first day of the competition. All participants displayed their well-known fighting spirit and only one game out of 12, Kosintseva N. – Dzagnidze, finished in a draw. Nana Dzagnidze’s rook and knight couldn’t gain the victory against Kosintseva’s rook.

Anna Muzychuk, Katerina Lahno, Pia Cramling, and the legendary champion Maia Chiburdanidze succeeded in winning both games and now share the first place with maximum points.

The total prize fund of the event is 40,000 USD (10,000 USD for the first prize) is provided by the main sponsor of the Georgian chess federation SOCAR Energy Georgia, Ltd. The organizers of the event are ACP and Georgian chess federation.
