The veteran Egyptian came on top after beating all his opponents in the seven-round Swiss system event which saw more than 40 players of different ages and nationalities taking part.
It was organised by the federation during the ‘Our Bahrain Festival’ marking Bahrain’s National Day celebrations and His Majesty King Hamad’s accession to the throne.
Meanwhile, the federation is organising a one-week international course for chess arbiters, starting on January 24.
The course will be held in co-operation with the Arab Chess Federation and provides an international badge to those who pass the final theoretical exam.
