Armenia and Azerbaijan leading in the Chess Olympiad in Dresden

After two rounds at the Olympiad in Dresden 20 teams have four points each, with Azerbaijan and Armenia leading on tiebreak points.

In Round 2 Russia beat Poland 2½:1½, after Dmitry Jakovenko beat Bartel Mateusz, and all other games were drawn.

Germany 1 beat Slovenia 3:1 with Khenkin and Fridman scoring. China beat Belarus by the same score, with Ni Hua and Li Chao bringing in the points.

Azerbaijan and Armenia did likewise against Slovakia and Moldova, while England beat Denmark and India beat Sweden by the same score.

The upset was the 10th seed US team being held to a draw by the 27th ranked Greece squad.

After two rounds twenty teams have four points, with Azerbaijan and Armenia leading on tiebreaks.In the women’s section Israel, ranked 21st, beat the seventh seed Americans.
