The 15th Festival in took place Cutro on 18-26 April 2009. (Cutro obtained the title of city in 1575 by the Spanish King Philip II, after the local chess master Leonardo Di Bona had won the first known international competition in the history of chess in Madrid).
Final standings:
1. GM K. Rusev (BUL, 2498) – 6½ out of 9,
2-4. GMs Malaniuk (UKR, 2523), Vl. Georgiev (MKD, 2539) and Inkiov (BUL, 2471) – 6,
5-8. GM Svetushkin (MDA, 2615), GM Epishin (RUS, 2591), GM Tratar (SLO, 2488) and FM G.P. Arnaudov (BUL, 2449) – 5½, etc (24
players).
The best results among the Italian players, 4½ points, was shown by FM Daniele Genocchio (2445).
