9 players share first for Belgrade Trophy 2014

The 28th Belgrade Trophy 2014 was held from 24th November to 2nd December 2014 at the Centar Balasevic Hotel***** in Belgrade, Serbia.

The tournament was organized by the Serbian Chess Federation and supported by the Parliament of Belgrade City in a 9-round Swiss FIDE format with the prize fund in the amount of 6.000 €.

The first place was shared in a nine-way tie by IM Antonios Pavlidis (Greece), GM Branko Damljanovic (Serbia),GM Dragisa Blagojevic (Montenegro), GM Alexey Kislinsky (Czech Republic), GM Dejan Pikula (Serbia), GM Suat Atalik (Turkey), GM Danilo Milanovic (Serbia), GM Miroslav Tosic (Serbia) and IM Marko Nenezic (Serbia) with 7 points each.

However, the young Greek player Pavlidis prevailed on a superior tie-break score and took the gold, while Damljanovic remained second.

The 17-year-old Tijana Blagojevic (Montenegro), recently approved for WIM conditionally on rating, made a huge rating jump, gaining 140 new ELO points to her rating. She collected 6/9 points and finished 23rd, grabbing the first female prize.
