The 8th annual Susan Polgar Girls’ Invitational, the most prestigious all-girls event in the United States, began this afternoon. Each year, over 3,000 young female players compete in state, regional, and qualifying events to earn an invitation.
This year, 45 young ladies, 5-18, have arrived to Texas Tech University in Lubbock, to attend a 3-day intense training, followed by 6 rounds of competition. They will compete for over $120,000 in chess scholarships and prizes.
Let the fun begins!

How come the USCF isn’t promoting this event? Are they against young girls playing chess?
The USCF is a racist organization, all white folks hating women and color people.
Susan,
I want to thank you for this event and for being a leader in Girls Chess amongst other areas. As father of two participants, I appreciate your efforts and leadership. Last but not least, you are a class act for what you are doing for the young Californian teen that had faced foster care adversity. We publically stand by you in helping anyone in your program with finances, we also put the weight of our website and its 30,000 readers to assist your endeavors.
