The 87° Campeonato Argentino Absoluto de Ajedrez 2012 is taking place on 3-14 April at the Círculo de Ajedrez de Villa Martelli, Laprida 3837, Villa Martelli, Vte. López, Bs.As.

The event is a 11-round Swiss open with a time control of 90 minutes for the whole game plus 30 seconds increments from the first move.

The first prizes are distributed as follows (in pesos): 1st – 6.000; 2nd – 4.400; 3rd – 3.600; 4th – 3.200, etc.

First seed is GM Diego Flores, followed by GM Sandro Mareco, GM Diego Valerga, last year champion Martin Lorenzini and GM Federico Perez Ponsa.

53 players have signed up to participate; 26 of them are titled.
