Geoffrey Parker Launches “World’s Most Expensive” Chess Set

Geoffrey Parker, British makers of bespoke luxury games, have created what is billed as the world’s most expensive chess set.

Priced at around $78,000 (depending on the metals market), the Silver Jubilee Edition Chessboard is a reintroduction of a 1960s classic Geoffrey Parker board originally created to celebrate Queen Elizabeth’s Silver Jubilee, and winner of the prestigious Design Council Award in London.

The new set is offered in a choice of sterling silver, sterling silver-gilt and solid gold, as well as being available in Dauphin calf colours.

Geoffrey Parker has become renowned for creating luxury games for stores, casinos as well as private commissions.

Amongst the games to have been designed by the brand are a Backgammon set costing $387,890, and a poker set priced at an eye-boggling $7.5 million.

Geoffrey Parker was founded in 1958.
