I guess he must have been very disapointed by the 2-0 squash by Carlsen in the second round.
Maybe that’s what has discouraged him for the rest of the tournament…
Must be pretty demotivating to be so close to the top as Aronian is, and then to watch all the spotlight being taken by Carlsen.
